A Virtual Nigerian Uniform Bank Account Number (Virtual Nuban or Virtual Account Numbers) is a standardized 10-digit number that provides a way to receive payments into an account via bank transfer. Virtual Nubans can be created for Deposit Accounts or Sub accounts. To fund a deposit account or sub account, send money to the virtual Nuban that is attached to the account, and the deposit or sub-ledger account will be credited.

📒 Virtual Nubans do not hold money themselves, Hence, they do not have balances. They only provide a means to receive money into a deposit account or into a sub-ledger account.

Types of Virtual Accounts

We have two types of Virtual Account Numbers: Reserved and Dynamic virtual account numbers.

Account Numbers: 

Account number works like a pointer to a single underlying deposit account. While traditional banks typically only let you have one account number to one deposit account, Anchor lets you create as many account numbers as you need — all referring to the same deposit account. Account Numbers allow you to fund your bank account directly meaning you can generate unique Account Numbers for different transactions.

Anchor Reserved Accounts is a feature that lets you create permanent virtual account numbers for each of your customers, making it easy to receive payments via bank transfers. Every customer gets their own unique 10-digits account number in their name, so payments are automatically linked to them—no need for manual reconciliation or payment references. Reserved Account Numbers are permanent or static virtual account numbers that do not expire.
